Important Dates:
May 23 – Start reading and tracking for the Summer!
May 27 – 30 & June 2 – 3 – 12:30 PM Help decorate the library with a passive craft to get ready for Summer Reading!
June 5 – 10:30 AM Summer Reading Kick Off Party!
June 9 – First day to spin the prize wheel!
July 18 – Last day for logging books and spinning the prize wheel.
July 22 – 4:30 PM Summer Reading Finale Party!
July 31 – Last day to pick up earned prizes.
Prize Milestones
Time Trackers – Milestones increase from 20 minutes, 30 minutes, and 60 minutes (1 hour) to receive a spin at the prize wheel.
Teens – For every 100 pages read, teens get an entry into a weekly prize drawing. We will call to notify winner.
Adults – For every book read, adults get an entry into a weekly prize drawing. We will call to notify winner.

Frequently Asked
Do I have to have a library card to sign up for the reading challenge?
No. It is not required to have a library card to particpiate in library programs, including the summer reading challenge.
Do the books I read have to come from the library?
No. For EGFPL’s Summer Reading Challenge, you can read ANY book you like, and it can be from anywhere (ie . house, church, daycare, school, library, etc.) Audiobooks also count for the challenge!
If my kid doesn't want the prize won from spinning the wheel, is there a substitute?
Yes! If your kid spins and wins a prize they don’t want, they can select a book off the book cart.
Does my kid have to participate in the reading challenge to join a library summer event?
No. You’re child can participate in the library summer events without registering for the reading challenge and vice versa. We invite you to join both the summer reading program and the variety of library events as they are free and fun!
Is the Summer Reading Challenge for adults too?
Yes! Our Summer Reading Challenge is for everyone! The more books you read, the more points you earn to be turned in to the a weekly drawing.
I already have a Readsquared acount, do I need to create a new one for the Summer Reading Challenge?
No, although you would want to make sure yours and family’s info is all up to date. Starting May 30th, you will be able to particpate and log your reading. Don’t forget to enroll in this years reading program choices depending on your age and reading level.
